Feathers

THE GAME OF FEATHERS®

What is Feathers®?

Feathers is a putting-only game that can be played on the greens of a traditional golf course or indoors on portable putting greens.  Because the outdoor game uses a golf cart to travel from hole to hole, almost anyone can play.  And, since the game is more about "touch" than about "power", almost anyone can be competitive.

Why a New Game?

Feathers was created by retired psychologist and avid golfer, Dr. Roy (Jan) Miller, PhD.  Upon retirement, and at a point of self-reflection, Dr. Miller recalled the joy and laughter experienced when he and his father would spend time together on the local golf course.  Dr. Miller longed to share that same joy with his friends and family.  He soon found that his friends could no longer play a full round of golf due to physical limitations, and his children were just too busy to spend a day on the course.  With these challenges in mind, Dr. Miller set out to create a new sport, within the game of golf, which would be suitable for almost anyone to play.  He wanted it to deliver the benefits of mild exercise, provide community and family interaction, and take only a short time to play.  So, from a game within a game, a new sport took flight.

The name "Feathers" was chosen based on scoring terms used in the traditional game of golf:
Birdie = A score of 1 under Par
Eagle = A score of 2 under Par
Albatross = A score of 3 under Par
In addition, some of the earliest know golf balls were even called "Featheries"!
